November 2023 - Frances Ehrke

 Frances Carmine (Ehrke)

Hello to all of our Ehrke Family!  I am so excited to be able to help get the World Famous Ehrke Family Round Robin kicked off!  We hope you are all doing well in your part of the world.  It was SO much fun being able to see those who were able to attend the reunion in Aberdeen and such an honor to meet some of our family whom we have never met before!

OK, so what's been happening over the past year on Fran's family tree branch?  Lots!  I will start with her children's families in order of age, beginning with Judy's family.

Judy

John, or Larry as a lot of you know him, is still living in Millbrae in the home they bought over 45 years ago.  He keeps busy attending meetings and gatherings as a member of the Lions Club, Duffers, and Italian Club.  He golfs once a week and heads up to his home in Clearlake about once a month.  John turned 75 last December and enjoyed the event with family and friends.

Jennifer and her husband EJ, celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary on November 1st.  They are being kept extremely busy with their daughters' sporting events, tournaments, games, and school.  Jen still occasionally writes for her cocktail blog, still sells her cocktail books on Amazon, and is a consultant for Urban Retreat where she sells products for hair, skin, body, and life.

EJ is still working from home as a programmer and is enjoying the commute down the hall every morning!  He is still coaching softball year-round (3 seasons), which will drop to 2 once their oldest daughter Alyssa plays her 1st season for her high school team.

Austin is now 24 and still working at Trader Joe's.  He has been there for 4 years now and really enjoys it.  He also really enjoyed our family reunion in Aberdeen.  He thought it was so neat to take the driving tour and see where it all began.

Edgar got his driver's license at the beginning of the year which was exciting!  He just started his 2nd year in college.  He is attending UCR and is doing well in his classes.  His major is psychology and is beginning to take classes for his major.  Last year he joined the Kati Club on campus (Filipino Club) and made a lot of friends, one of which is one of his current roommates at the on-campus apartments.

Alyssa started her first year of high school this fall.  She tried out for and made the Freshman volleyball team.  She had a fun time playing volleyball for the first time.  She is currently at tryouts for her high school basketball team and then in the spring will play softball for them as well.

Jenna is a 7th grader at the local middle school.  She is enjoying school and just finished her volleyball season for her school.  EJ and Jen coached her team this year and her team went 8-2.  Jenna will be turning 13 on November 14th, which she is very excited about as well!

Gary

Brian bought his first home in Reno and moved in back in June.  He is excited to be a homeowner and has fixed up his backyard right after moving in.  He is currently a personal trainer in Sparks and is enjoying what he does.  He enjoys taking his dog Rocky out to dog parks and different adventures.  Now with his daughter Kylie living in Reno as well, he gets to hear all about the college life from her.

Kylie started her 1st year of college at the University of Reno.  She is majoring in Public Health and prepping to go into nursing.  So far she is enjoying college and having her Dad close by.  She is currently taking Music Appreciation, Listening, Foundation of Public Health, and World Religions.  Kylie has joined the Japanese Club on campus, has a current GPA of 3.9, and is looking forward to the Reno winter when the snow falls and she gets to try out snowboarding.

Diane is living in Reno in the home she and Gary bought.  She is keeping busy with friends and recently traveled overseas.  She took that trip with a friend and the two ended up in Lisbon visiting one of her sons and his girlfriend.  Diane had a nice time at the family reunion in Aberdeen as well.
